Summary

The world of magick and the world of man have long been estranged from one another。 But some can walk between the two--including Breen Siobhan Kelly。 She has just returned to Talamh, with her friend, Marco, who's dazzled and disoriented by this realm--a place filled with dragons and faeries and mermaids (but no WiFi, to his chagrin)。 In Talamh, Breen is not the ordinary young schoolteacher he knew her as。 Here she is learning to embrace the powers of her true identity。 Marco is welcomed kindly by her people--and by Keegan, leader of the Fey。 Keegan has trained Breen as a warrior, and his yearning for her has grown along with his admiration of her strength and skills。

But one member of Breen's bloodline is not there to embrace her。 Her grandfather, the outcast god Odran, plots to destroy Talamh--and now all must unite to defeat his dark forces。 There will be losses and sorrows, betrayal and bloodshed。 But through it, Breen Siobhan Kelly will take the next step on the journey to becoming all that she was born to be。

After reading The Awakening, I must say that I was more disappointed in this installment。 At times, it felt cheesy and was a bit awkward to read。 The storyline was good, but for me, this book wasn't as good as the first。 After reading The Awakening, I must say that I was more disappointed in this installment。 At times, it felt cheesy and was a bit awkward to read。 The storyline was good, but for me, this book wasn't as good as the first。 。。。more

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review。 3 starsThe Becoming is the second book in The Dragon Heart Legacy series。 Breen is coming into her powers and learning more about the land of Talamh。 While the narration for the audiobook was excellent, the book barely kept my attention。

As the second part in Nora Roberts' most recent trilogy, The Becoming obviously continues where The Awakening left off。As expected from any Nora Roberts book, the characters are charismatic and the dialogue written for them is second to none。Readers are easily swept along with this continuing story but in true 'trilogy' style, there continues to be questions that remain unanswered。Personally, I feel that this particular trilogy could have been a duet。 Having now read the first two novels, there As the second part in Nora Roberts' most recent trilogy, The Becoming obviously continues where The Awakening left off。As expected from any Nora Roberts book, the characters are charismatic and the dialogue written for them is second to none。Readers are easily swept along with this continuing story but in true 'trilogy' style, there continues to be questions that remain unanswered。Personally, I feel that this particular trilogy could have been a duet。 Having now read the first two novels, there seems to be little progress in the main story although there are sub plots peppered throughout。For Nora Roberts fans, this will be welcomed and enjoyed。。。 Maybe not so much for new readers! All in all a welcome addition to this author's catalogue! 。。。more

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I just finished the audiobooks The Awakening and The Becoming by Nora Roberts。 If you love Ireland, magic and Outlander, these books are for you! Great characters, exploration of relationships and of course romance and action! (I received a preview audiobook of The Becoming through NetGalley。)

Having just finished Book 1 on audiobooks and not being really engaged with the story, I was hoping that Book 2 would be a better experience。Unfortunately it wasn't。  The audiobook narration was great, just as in the first book。  I enjoyed the accents and the narrator had a variety of voices for the different characters which made it easier to keep everyone straight。I'm disappointed that I haven't been able to find the comfort in reading a Nora Roberts story that I once did。  Not sure if it's me Having just finished Book 1 on audiobooks and not being really engaged with the story, I was hoping that Book 2 would be a better experience。Unfortunately it wasn't。  The audiobook narration was great, just as in the first book。  I enjoyed the accents and the narrator had a variety of voices for the different characters which made it easier to keep everyone straight。I'm disappointed that I haven't been able to find the comfort in reading a Nora Roberts story that I once did。  Not sure if it's me, perhaps my readings tastes have changed, or if it's the writing。  I felt like, as in book 1, there was way too much time spent on Breen learning how to fight with swords, too little time spent with anything dragon related and the lovely friendship with Marco felt really fake or forced。。。。 not sure。I loved how Roberts would build her relationships between characters in her past books。  But Marco's character is an over the top LGBTQ character that check marks all the normal gay stereotypes but has nothing underneath those flashy characteristics。  Breen is also a very surface-level character to me and their relationship was very meh。  Conversations consist of all the normal stereotype's you'd expect of a straight woman/gay man friendship。  Nothing new here。 No depth of feeling or connection。And while we are talking about connection。。。。。it's almost non-existent between Breen and Keegan。  Disappointing。As a summary, the narration is great! Love listening to the Irish accent here and there throughout the story。The rest of the story was not up to the level I would expect from a fantasy trilogy or from Nora Roberts herself。  I won't be reading Book 3 as I'm just not that invested in the characters。Thank you to #NetGalley and #MacMillanAudio for providing the ARC for review。 All opinions expressed are my own。 。。。more

The Becoming was a fantastic sequel to The Awakening。 The only problem is that we now have to wait until next year to finish the story of Breen, Marco, Keegan, and the rest of the Fae。 Nora Roberts continues to create a magical world full of intrigue and action。 I sunk into the story and didn't want to have to put the book down, The narrator of the audiobook performs phenomenally。 She has the perfect accent and portrays all of the emotions needed。 The Becoming was a fantastic sequel to The Awakening。 The only problem is that we now have to wait until next year to finish the story of Breen, Marco, Keegan, and the rest of the Fae。 Nora Roberts continues to create a magical world full of intrigue and action。 I sunk into the story and didn't want to have to put the book down, The narrator of the audiobook performs phenomenally。 She has the perfect accent and portrays all of the emotions needed。 。。。more

I have to say I really loved this book! It was filled with friendship, love, family, magic and dragons all set in a realistic and beautiful fantasy world。 I did not read the first installment but I have to say I am so glad Nora Roberts has delved into fantasy。 She writes it brilliantly。 I could hardly stop listening to this book and I will definitely continue the series。

Nora Roberts never fails to write a captivating series and this one is no different。 Breen has grown so much in both body and spirit since we met her in the first book。 And, who wouldn’t want a best friend like Marco! As we wait for the next installment, we can’t help but wonder how it will all turn out when Breen, Keegan, and the rest of Talamh battle for their way of life。

Received an ARC for a review:I read everything Nora until her series of paranormal books which mimicked each other。 So when I saw this series I decided to give her a try again。 Even though this is a typical middle of a series book which, for me, means it drags on, nothing is concluded and nobody does much, I'll still finish the series。 For this story, truly nothing started happening until they got to the Capital。 Then the drama with the scorned ex was entertaining and picked the story up a bit。 Received an ARC for a review:I read everything Nora until her series of paranormal books which mimicked each other。 So when I saw this series I decided to give her a try again。 Even though this is a typical middle of a series book which, for me, means it drags on, nothing is concluded and nobody does much, I'll still finish the series。 For this story, truly nothing started happening until they got to the Capital。 Then the drama with the scorned ex was entertaining and picked the story up a bit。 I did enjoy Lonrach, that Marco met someone and it wasn't over the top, that Keegan is finally giving in to his attraction。 I didn't like how it seemed to drag on and found myself flipping through pages to see when I'd finish。 。。。more
